DR TEAL'S
Magnesium Sulfate Epsom Salt
Magnesium sulfate, otherwise known as epsom salt, is formed by combining magnesium, sulfur, and oxygen. The magnesium and sulfate in Epsom salt have anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce pain and swelling. This type of magnesium is known to relax sore muscles and joints, and relieve aches and pains, including menstrual cramps.
It can also soothe skin conditions. As with other forms, it has a calming effect and may help to reduce feelings of stress. Magnesium sulfate also has a laxative effect and may support bowel movements. Use epsom salts in a bath or foot bath a few times a week or as often as you’d like.
Frieda Hoffman
Carry Me: Stories of Pregnancy Loss
After Frieda Hoffman’s second miscarriage, she felt alone, ignorant, and overwhelmed with emotions. Finding little literature or support available, her entrepreneurial spirit kicked in and she decided to create the resource she wished she’d had: real stories about pregnancy loss from real women without the off-putting lens of religion or academia so typical of the self-help genre.
Through Hoffman’s own journey and those of nineteen women she interviewed, Carry Me explores universal themes of grief, bearing witness, transforming adversity into opportunity, and the paradox of feeling alone while sharing a common experience. The diverse women and narratives unpack the physical, emotional, and financial challenges of loss; notions of womanhood and motherhood; and the intersections of public health, body politics, and patient care. Readers are called to action to share their own stories in order to heal themselves and support others.
Nearly everyone knows someone affected by pregnancy loss, yet most of us are not comfortable, even in the relative safety of the company of friends and sisters, discussing this serious health issue. It’s time to normalize the dialogue and help one another through our losses by sharing our resources, our wisdom, and our stories—by carrying one another.

TRADITIONAL MEDICINALS
Nettle Tea
Incorporating nettle tea can be beneficial for anyone who is experiencing symptoms associated with histamine overload. Nettle also stimulates hair growth and reduces shedding and is actually a common ingredient in hair care products. For at-home use you can make a nettle infusion and use it as a hair rinse.
I suggest 1-2 cups of nettle tea a day either hot or made into iced tea. I love to mix nettle tea with red raspberry leaf tea, and you’ll find a recipe for this in the handout on beverages.
Keep in mind that it can react with medications that include blood thinners, diabetes medications, heart disease and blood pressure medications. It should also be used with caution by those with hemochromatosis (iron overload) and hyperkalemia (high potassium).
EMILY NAGOSKI & AMELIA NAGOSKI
Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle
Burnout. Many women in America have experienced it. What’s expected of women and what it’s really like to be a woman in today’s world are two very different things—and women exhaust themselves trying to close the gap between them.
With the help of eye-opening science, prescriptive advice, and helpful worksheets and exercises, all women will find something transformative in these pages—and will be empowered to create positive change. Emily and Amelia aren’t here to preach the broad platitudes of expensive self-care or insist that we strive for the impossible goal of “having it all.” Instead, they tell us that we are enough, just as we are—and that wellness, true wellness, is within our reach.
